Madison Finstuen
Director of Programs
What sparked your desire to work in a senior living community?
I have always been interested in activities and having a job where every day is unique. I love the positive atmosphere Shorewood has and I am excited to make new memories here.
What are your residents’ top 3 favorite activities?
Live music, theme dinners, and happy hours.
What were your two best attended, most fun events over the past two years?
Annual “Shorewood County Fair” and parking lot concerts
Are there programs the residents lead themselves?
We have wonderful residents who lead many of our Independent Living groups such as nurses club, ladies bible study, veterans coffee, crafts and card games. We encourage and support residents to lead programs they are personally interested in.
What sets your programming apart from the competition?
We get to know the residents’ needs and interests and program accordingly. We encourage independence by offering activity choices that promote our six areas of wellness.
More About Madison…
I grew up in Zumbrota with two younger sisters and an older brother. I am extremely close with my grandpa, mom, and siblings and see them all on a regular basis. I have always loved painting, drawing, and anything crafty. My favorite animals are cows, even if they stink!
I currently live in Oronoco with my fiancé and our pets, a Husky named Bruno, a Malamute named Moon, and an orange kitty named Munchie. My number one hobby is house plants. I have 27 plants, and I am still buying more. I love spending time at my family cabin up north where we enjoy hiking, fishing, ATV rides, and hunting.
How do you spend weekends?
Sleeping or watching movies.
Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
